Let’s know more about this anticipated release of Mufasa: the Lion King through this blog.

Is it Live Action or Animated?

Disney’s forthcoming film Mufasa: The Lion King, under the direction of Barry Jenkins, has been a hot topic for debate over whether it is live-action or animated. In an interview with GamesRadar+ and Total Film, Jenkins explained that Mufasa and the remake of The Lion King in 2019 are animated movies, even though they had lifelike CGI images.

“It’s definitely an animated movie,” Jenkins said. He added that working with animators to make expressive, lifelike CGI models clearly puts Mufasa in the animation category, not live-action.

This clarification shows Disney’s changing attitude with its reboots. While movies like The Little Mermaid and Peter Pan are created using old live-action techniques. Mufasa blends them with CGI animation to present a realistic yet fundamentally animated world.

More About The Movie

The story, as narrated by Rafiki to Kiara (Simba’s daughter), is Kiara’s first animated feature film appearance since The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. Jenkins hinted that while elements from the sequel are referenced, the film is not a direct adaptation.

Rafiki tells the story of young Mufasa, whose early life was anything but carefree. Orphaned and alone, his life changes when he meets Taka, a lion of royal lineage. If you thought Scar was the only dramatic sibling in the Pride Lands, think again—this tale is packed with adventure, intrigue, and valuable life lessons.

But it is not serious. Timon and Pumbaa return with humor and their philosophy of “hakuna matata, or no worries.” Therefore, you have many reasons to be entertained as they take us on a roller coaster of events in the Pride Lands of Africa.
